Compact Remote Spectral Terahertz Imager

Abstract We report on development of an array spectral sensitive detectors cooled down to 70 K by the compact cryocooler. The operation detectors, explored between 0.16 THz and 0.22 THz, is due resonant excitation plasma waves in two-dimensional electron gas GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure. A typical responsivity 0.01 A/W at while it increases two orders magnitude when detector 0.5 K. photo-response has surprisingly a narrow peak sensitivity, $$\sim$$ ∼ 2–5%, which are highly likely dimensional resonances waves. As demonstration we detect feature LiNbO $$_{3}$$ xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML">3 crystal 0.174 THz.
